God invites all of us to use our gifts and abilities, so that together we can accomplish HIS mission, serve one another, and glorify the Lord. Identifying what gifts we possess – and perhaps additional latent gifts that can be further developed – increases our effectiveness for mission and healthy church growth.

What the Bible Says about Spiritual Gifts
Paul's basic description of a spiritual gift can be found in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, but the concept is taught in several other key New Testament passages as well.
- Each believer is given at least one gift. (1 Corinthians 12:7)
- The Holy Spirit determines who receives which gifts. (1 Corinthians 12:11)
- Each gift is equally valuable. (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)
- We are to use our gifts to serve others for the benefit of the body of Christ. (Romans 12:6-8; Ephesians 4:12)
- We are commanded to use our gifts. (1 Peter 4:10)
- Exercising our gifts will help us develop spiritual maturity. (Ephesians 4:13)
Next Steps
After you’ve taken the assessment and studied the descriptions and the scriptures, here are some great next steps you could take to further develop your gifts . . .
Pray. Ask God to reveal His gifts through the Holy Spirit, and remember also that God often uses other believers to affirm our gift. Ask the Lord to provide opportunities to exercise your gifts and grow in them!
Go for it! The best way to develop our gifts is to take action and use them. This does not have to be through an “official” church ministry – there are opportunities for service to be found all around you, once you start opening yourself – and your calendar – up to being useful for the Lord’s calling and mission.
